Antibiotic susceptibility test discs from MAST impregnated with a defined concentration of Penicillin G suitable for use on agar plates.

The disc cartridges can be used in conjunction with the Hand Dispenser - Ejector (supplied separately), for ease, convenience and speed of dispensing the discs. 

Supplied in dispensing cartridges of 50 discs

One unit of penicillin is equivalent to 0.6ug

Storage and shelf life

Discs require refrigerated storage at 2-8ºC, and will last approx. 2 yrs if kept unopened and refrigerated, 1-2 weeks once opened.

How do I use these susceptibility discs?

Transfer (inoculate) bacterial culture into nutrient broth and incubate overnight until cloudy. Add some inoculated broth to liquid agar at approximately 45°C and pour into plates.

Discs should be applied within 15 minutes of the agar setting and plates incubated shortly after application.

Discs must be in close contact with a moist agar surface.

Uniform incubation times should be used.

These do not seem to be working. What could be the reason?

Possible causes include:

Discs being opened for longer than one to two weeks.

Incorrect storage.

Non-viable bacterial cultures.

Unsuitable incubation conditions.

Use against bacteria that are not sensitive to penicillin.
