Matthew Blake

Territory Manager - Central Midlands & East

January 2026 marked Matt's return to Breckland, bringing his valued experience and deep company knowledge.

He has worked for two of the larger suppliers in the field, the other being Timstar. Matt has been in the education sector for 19 years of which 14 has been in the science side.

Matt was trained in agricultural engineering originally and achieved an International Diploma as well as a City and Guilds Diploma.

Passionate about customer care, relationship building, and networking. Matt enjoys attending Tech Meets and is always happy to get involved in any type of workshop. His personal favourite is Microscopy maintenance and measuring.

Since 2011, Matt has supported schools across the Centre and East of England and is well known and respected by many teachers and technicians.

Phil Tomlinson

Business Development Manager - Scotland

Phil started his working life as a laboratory technician after which he worked in sales for Philip Harris for a number of years. Subsequently he spent 8 years in the medical field and then returned to Philip Harris as the Brand Director.

He joined Timstar in 2005 as MD and helped turn a good business into a great business until it was sold to an American firm. During his tenure at Timstar, Phil and the former owner of Timstar purchased Breckland Scientific and in 2012 they set up the Stafford site.

In 2025 Phil sold Breckland Scientific to Atom Scientific but has remained with the business to help with Atom Scientific’s exciting growth plans for the future.

Suffice to say, after all these years, Phil understands what customers need and as well as looking at developing the business further he is the first point of contact for customers in Scotland.
