Spare Glass Bulb for Hero’s Engine (STE-400-100)

Replacement borosilicate glass bulb designed for use with the Hero’s Engine (Eolipile) apparatus, model STE-400-100. This spare component allows continued demonstration of early steam turbine principles where the original bulb requires replacement due to wear or damage.

The bulb features two side arms bent at 90 degree angles and formed into jet outlets. When approximately 25–30 ml of water is introduced and heated using a Bunsen burner, steam escapes through the jets and produces reactive force, causing rotational motion. Constructed from borosilicate glass, the bulb is suitable for repeated heating under controlled laboratory conditions.

Key Features

Direct Replacement Component: Designed specifically for the Hero’s Engine apparatus (STE-400-100).

Borosilicate Glass Construction: Offers strong resistance to thermal stress during heating and cooling cycles.

Integrated Steam Jets: 90 degree angled arms provide directional steam release for rotational propulsion.

Educational Demonstration Ready: Enables continued illustration of steam reaction and energy conversion principles.

Shipped from our Manchester, UK Facility

All replacement components are securely packed for safe delivery. Orders are fulfilled from our Manchester-based facility, ensuring reliable UK dispatch. Bunsen burner not included. Exercise caution during operation, as the unit involves open flames, hot vapour and heated glass surfaces.
