Transformer Coils
This range of transformer coils in the Lascells Transformer Coil System allows a whole range of transformer and electromagnetic investigations to be carried out. Each coil has two windings, in effect giving 3 coils. For example, the 200 & 250 coil provides 200, 250 and 450 turn coils on the same former, depending on the wiring configuration used.
Typical applications include: Voltage step-up and step-down experiments, whereby the input and output voltages of a pair of transformer coils connected together using a double C-core can be measured using an AC voltmeter or multimeter; Exploring the transformer equation to a high degree of accuracy; Demonstration of induced voltages and currents, by connecting a coil to a centre-zero analogue meter, oscilloscope, datalogger, millivoltmeter or milliammeter and dropping an Alnico bar magnet through the centre of the coil; Demonstration of Faradays law; Demonstration of Lenzs law; Demonstration of electromagnetic effect; Demonstration of force on a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field.
