Lascells Capacitor Investigation This apparatus provides a simple and effective method for students to investigate the charge and discharge characteristics of a capacitor. All orders are securely packed for safe delivery and dispatched from our Manchester warehouse, ensuring dependable UK service.
The large value of C (10,000 µF) and the resistor chosen give a time constant of about 50 seconds so that students can easily take a manual set of readings for plotting a graph. Data-logging equipment can just as easily be used and if a faster response is required a parallel resistor could be plugged in.
The main investigation is that of plotting the charge-discharge characteristics of a capacitor. This is a timed experiment and the values chosen for the system make it reasonable for readings to be taken every 10 seconds. Suitable for 2 to 4 students, to allow for timing, reading the meter(s) and recording the results.
Requires connection to a smoothed or regulated d.c. laboratory power supply, as well as analogue or digital meters (voltmeter - ammeter). Electrical connections are made using standard 4 mm plug leads connected to the integral 4 mm safety sockets.
Dimensions: 260 x 145 x 100 mm (l x w x h)
