DNA Fingerprinting DNA Kit

Students can solve a crime with this exciting electrophoresis kit. They must match the DNA pattern from the crime scene with one of five suspects to find the culprit, by matching the banding pattern to work out the result. Additionally, advanced students can learn about short tandem repeats (STR) a type of variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) using the kits.

Designed to be finished within a 1 hour class session, the gel takes approximately 5min to load, 30min to run and 15 min to stain.

Kit contents: instructions, DNA samples, DNA stain, agarose, electrophoresis buffer. For 8 gels/student groups.

Not included in the kit: electrophoresis tank, power supply, fixed volume or adjustable 40µl micropipette and tips.
