Daphnia pulex

D.pulex is a species of water flea that feeds on various species of algae. They have a clear carapace that allows you to view their internal organs without causing them any harm. They are ideal for studying heart rate and digestion in response to different chemicals. Moreover, they serve as a vital food source for many aquatic organisms, making them a key component of a pond’s ecosystem.

Approximately 300 live water fleas supplied in a bottle.

All pond life is collected from natural ponds and although care is taken, samples may contain other specimens.

Daphnia will be shipped directly from our supplier, Mon-Thurs only.

Use by: Daphnia should be used within two weeks of purchase.

On receipt: Pour them gently into a large beaker, tank or other container and keep cool (10-15°C if possible) and out of direct sunlight.

For longer storage: Place into fresh water - using pond water, bottled still water or rain water (NOT tap water) - and feed with Daphnia food (BLO-200-120), Chlorella (BLO-050-100) or other algae.
