Bicarbonate Indicator (Hydrogen carbonate indicator) Solution 500ml
This is a pH indicator solution being yellow in acid solutions and purple in alkali ones.
It is used primarily in biology experiments to measure the levels of CO2 used during photosynthesis in algae.
The indicator is usually used as a 10% solution (dilute with distilled water), and should start as a cherry red solution. For solutions looking more purple bubble air through them and the increased carbon dioxide in the solution will make the indicator turn more red.
As CO2 is added to the solution from photosynthesis the solution will turn more yellow (the solution becomes more acidic), as it is removed from solution it will turn more purple (the solution becomes more alkaline).
