Amanda joined us in March, bringing extensive experience across science, education, and technical support.
With a BSc in Animal Physiology and a PGCE from Homerton College, Amanda began her career in scientific research before moving into laboratory work. She later transitioned into school science technician roles, supporting all three sciences and junior school science for 13 years, eventually becoming Lead Science Technician and co-authoring a practical handbook for school science technicians.
Amanda then moved into the educational supplies sector, where she supports customers with technical enquiries and develops accessible science content, drawing on her strong classroom and laboratory experience.
“I support customers by creating engaging, relevant content that helps with their day-to-day work. I also assist with customer service, answer technical queries, and collaborate with colleagues to continually improve our website. In addition, I work alongside the sales team at technician meetings and help develop workshops.
Having worked as a science technician myself, I understand the challenges technicians face and the support they need”
“Being able to be a link between techs and the business. Using my experience as a technician I am able to bridge the gap between schools and Breckland, ensuring we provide the support technicians really need”
“I wanted to join this small but passionate team and contribute to making Breckland the best it can be - a brand that supports and is trusted by science technicians everywhere”
“I was a morris dancer for many years, and I know how to play the melodeon.
I met Jeffrey Holland whist playing Gladys Pugh in an amateur version of Hi de Hi, which he came to see”
