Hands-On Physics Workshop for Cabot Learning Federation Staff
On 27 October, staff from Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) participated in a hands-on workshop focused on science lab essentials and practical physics equipment. The session began with a discussion of laboratory glassware and chemicals, fundamental components for reliable teaching and experimentation. After that, attendees assembled loudspeakers, applying physics in a creative, practical way.
The workshop also included demonstrations of apparatus from Lascells, a cloud chamber, a reaction timer, a resonance tube and an E-field detector, tools that help visualise and explore core physics concepts. The cloud chamber in particular reveals tracks made by ionising radiation, making normally invisible particles visible under the right conditions.
This event gave science technicians and teachers from education-focused institutions an opportunity to familiarise themselves with high-quality practical equipment, reinforcing the value of hands-on learning and reliable lab gear.
