Free Workshops for Science Technicians

Even if you only have a small group of technicians, we're always happy to come and visit you. Just free up a lab for an hour or two, and we'll take care of the rest.

Last year, our workshops covered a wide variety of hands on acitivites. We're not about pushy sales - we simply love coming out to engage, inspire, and share ideas with you. Lee and Sarah will lead the session, sometimes joined by a guest. Your team will pick up new skills, exchange ideas, and create things they can take away.

In the last academic year alone, we made loudspeakers, transformed cheap microscopes into state of the art dark microscopes, built steam engines, created electric colour wheels, tested reaction times, detected radon in classroms, experimented with conductive ink, bent light with water, explored gravity, used filters to change the way we observe live specimens... and so much more!

Lee Richards

National Sales Manager & Midlands & N.Wales

Lee joined Breckland in June 2019 and was promoted to National Sales Manager in September 2021. He also looks after our customers in the Midlands and North West. Lee has a BSc from University of Leicester and is qualified in electronics and computer maintenance. He started his scientific career in materials testing. Having spent many years in a commercial environment Lee also worked as a school science technician. Lee's breadth of scientific knowledge and commercial experience brings a new dimension to our team. Lee is hugely customer focused and fully understands the demands on our customers.

Sarah Marshall

Sales Support Manager - South East

Sarah is our Sales Support Manager for South East England and East London and joined Breckland in April 2015. Having worked for two of the largest companies in the industry (Timstar and SciChem) she is now a familiar face in schools in the South East. Sarah has a scientific background having a BSc(Hons) degree in Food Science and Nutrition, after which she worked and trained with ILEA in London, as a Laboratory Technician in various schools and colleges. Later, Sarah, spent many years as a Senior Science Technician in a secondary school in West Sussex. Sarah is always very keen to keep up to date with the latest developments affecting the teaching of science in schools and the resourcing of school science departments.
