Trans-Ratio is a highly efficient system designed for teaching transformer operation and to enable students to investigate the properties of a transformer in terms of turns ratio and power transfer efficiency, and used to demonstrate induction.
The transformer comprises two windings separated by a central divider. The primary winding is a 600-turn coil with tappings at 200 and 400 turns. The secondary winding is a 600-turn coil with tappings at 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 turns. The coil bobbin is enclosed by a pair of ferrite E cores to give high magnetic coupling between the windings. Connections are made using 4mm plug leads into the PCB mounted 4mm sockets on the front panel. Input voltage is from an a.c. laboratory power supply, and voltage is monitored using an a.c. voltmeter(s) or multimeter(s) set to a.c. voltage. Size: 180 x 100 x 75mm.
Please Note: The apparatus can only be used with a low voltage a.c. bench supply up to 6V maximum.
