Place each of these three cans, identical apart from their surface colour, 50-70cm away from a bright bulb. A hole in the top of each can allows a thermometer or datalogging temperature sensor to be inserted. We reccommend setting your datalogger to take readings every second and, if possible, connecting a fourth probe to monitor room temperature. Students can easily determine the effect of surface color on energy transfer as they watch the temperatures rise, and subsequently fall, at varying rates. This experiment will also work if the cans are filled with water, although empty cans often work better. Set of three cans. Size: 153mm Height, 53mm Dia.
