This apparatus contains a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) bead thermistor enclosed within in a glass tube. Electrical connection is made via 4mm sockets at the top of the unit. Students can investigate the characteristics of a thermistor, usually by measuring the resistance of the thermistor at different temperatures with a multimeter or other meter. The device has a nominal resistance of 4.7K? at 25°C. At 0°C this resistance would rise to about 15K? and at 100°C the resistance would drop to around 300?. Instructions and example results are included.
