Q = How do I dissolve kinetin to make a stock solution?A = CLEAPSS recipe states add 0.01 g kinetin in 10 ml of 70% ethanol. SAPS say Kinetin is only sparingly soluble and stock solutions of >50ppm are not practicable. You should use warm water, or dissolve it first in a small quantity of ethanol before adding the necessary amount of water. Solutions are best stored in a fridge.
Q = How do I dissolve kinetin if it won't dissolve in ethanol?A = Other methods to dissolve Kinetin: Dissolve in a small volume of dilute HCl (0.1 - 1M), heating slightly until dissolved. Then dilute to required volume with distilled water. OR Dissolve in a small volume of dilute NaOH (0.5 - 1M). Dilute to required volume with distilled water. OR Can use a small volume 1M KOH & dilute down to final volume. Solutions are best stored in a fridge.
