MacConkey Agar No. 3 (with Crystal Violet)

Powdered culture media for making up plates or for making into solution with crystal violet. Once made up, the media can be used for growing bacterial or fungal cultures. 

A modification of  MacConkey’s agar, for the isolation of Enterobacteriaceae from waters and sewage. The medium has been made more selective than MacConkey’s original formula by the use of crystal violet as well as bile salts. Gram positive organisms will not grow on this medium.
