Adaptors/ConnectorsChoosing the right adaptors (connectors) for connecting flexible tubing For connecting flexible tubing of similar or different bores (inside diameters) together, Breckland offers a wide range of suitable adaptors which can be used to join any flexible tubing (e.g. Rubber, Silicone, Neoprene or PVC tubing). Adaptors are made from Polypropylene (PP), which is autoclavable, or polyethylene (PE), which is non-autoclavable. We offer 5 types of adaptors/connectors, as follows: Straight Connectors (ADP-300-xxx range) – these are suitable for joining flexible tubing with the same or fairly similar bores, and have tapered ends with ridges to allow varying sizes tubing to be connected and gripped onto the adaptor. Sizes quoted refer to the minimum & maximum diameters of each end. Material: PP, autoclavable. T-Shape Connectors (ADP-100-xxx range) – these are useful for connecting a series of tubes or components together e.g. several filter flasks in a filter line. The 3 connections on the adaptors are all the same diameter (not tapered), with ridges for securely holding the tubing in place. Material: PP, autoclavable. Y-Shape Connectors (ADP-200-xxx range) – these are useful for connection of different components, or splitting/joining of tubing. The 3 connections on the adaptors are all the same diameter (not tapered), with ridges for securely holding the tubing in place. Material: PP, autoclavable. Unequal Connectors (ADP-400-xxx range) – these adaptors have connectors with differing diameters on each side, to allow connection of tubing with very different bores sizes. These are also known as expansion or reduction adaptors. Large and small bore tubing can be joined together using this type of adaptor. The connectors are tapered, with ridges to grip and hold tubing in place. Sizes quoted refer to the minimum & maximum diameters of each end. Material: PP, autoclavable. Disconnector Adaptors (ADP-050-xxx range) - these quick disconnectors are useful for joining lengths of flexible tubing together. Connectors fit tightly together but can also be disconnected again with relative ease. The connectors are tapered, with ridges to grip and hold tubing in place. Sizes quoted refer to the minimum & maximum diameters of each end. Material: PE, non-autoclavable. |
