This UK manufactured wind turbine kit is a working model of a real wind turbine and shows how wind power can be harnessed to generate electricity. The interactive set can be used indoors with a fan, or outdoors in the wind.
Assembled in minutes, it can be used at all stages of education, from primary through to university level, to teach and learn about renewable energy.
The wind turbine can be used to power the included electric motor, buzzer or LED, or connected to the voltmeter to measure the amount of electricity generated.
Additionally, explore the relationship between gearing and power output using three different gear ratios. Different turbine blade configurations can be tested, as the turbine hub allows configurations of two, three or six blades. The blade angles can also be easily adjusted, for further refinement of efficiency.
Kit includes:
Wind turbine nacelle with generator and tail vane
Desk-mounted tower with integral desk top clamp and 500 mm plug leads
6-way turbine hub; 6 turbine blades
Motor, LED and buzzer modules
Dual-scale analogue voltmeter
Gears (1 x 58-tooth, 2 x 38-tooth and 1 x 18-tooth) with hex key
