Charge Separation Rods allow charge from a charged object to be transferred and then separated. The rods are placed so that they touch end to end, then charged by bringing a charged object (e.g. an electrostatic rod or strip) near one end of the rods. If the charged object is the removed, and the rods moved apart without touching the metal parts, the charge on the two separated rods will be different. This can be tested/demonstrated using the E-Field Detector (ECT-550-100).
