Q = How many fractions can be expected from the mixture?
A = There should be 4 fractions, which come off at (approximately):
1 up to 80C
2 80 – 150C
3 150-200C
4 200 – 300C
If the mixture is stored for a long time the lower temperature fraction can evaporate off.
Q = What are the components of this mixture?
A = The Crude Oil (substitute) is made as per the CLEAPSS recipe, and includes liquid paraffin, petroleum ether (different fractions), white spirit and Kerosene.
