Carbon dioxide monitors are used to detect the presence and concentration of CO2 in the air in parts per million (ppm). Very high levels of CO2 may indicate poor ventilation in a room, which can lead to increased likelihood of drowsiness, headaches, nausea, lack of concentration etc. Poor ventilation in an enclosed room or space also increases the risk of the spread of viruses (e.g. coronavirus) and respiratory infections, which are primarily spread through droplets in the air.
This monitor, with large colour display, helps to measure CO2 levels in spaces such as classrooms, offices etc. and provides a visual indication of CO2 levels in ppm, along with a colour change indication of the safety level of CO2, to allow preventative or remedial measures to be taken if required. The monitor also measures and displays temperature and humidity.
Outdoor levels of CO2 are typically around 400ppm. Indoors, a consistent CO2 value less than 800ppm indicates a room is well ventilated. 800 - 1500ppm CO2 is an indicator of poor ventilation and for levels above 1500ppm, action should be taken by opening windows or doors to improve airflow and reduce CO2 levels.
The device adopts a high-precision non-dispersive infrared CO2 sensor that detects CO2 accurately and sensitively and includes a USB lead and high-capacity rechargeable lithium battery for economy and portability.
