Q = What's the difference between E. Coli K12 Strain and E. Coli B Strain?
A = Escherichia coli is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium of the genus Escherichia that is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms. B Strain is susceptible to T4 bacteriaphage where as K12 is not.
Q = What is the shelf life?
A = As a guide, shelf life is 3-4 weeks. Can be kept in the fridge, although Blades keep theirs at room temperature.
Q = Bacteria - shelf life
A = Should be stored in a fridge at 2 - 4oC. Most bacteria, if stored properly, will keep for a minimum of 2 weeks and probably up to 4 weeks. Some, e.g. E. coli will keep longer - approx. 1 - 3 months. To keep bacteria for longer, sub-culture regularly & incubate for 12 hours or so.
